After the end of the winter season and lots of missed time outside, the summer season brings more opportunities to eat and gather outside. One of the most popular ways to spend some quality family time is picnicking. From spontaneous breakfast in your garden to sunlit lunches in the park, picnics are a wonderful way to get your kids and family outside.

It doesn’t have to be complicated - a few simple food items, easy-playful activities and outdoor essentials are all it takes to throw a kids-friendly picnic to remember. The whole family will appreciate a change in their normal routine and the chance to spend more time outdoors!

What to eat and drink?

To give yourself work and actually enjoy the time out with your family - stick to foods that require easy preparation and are easier to pack. Here are some of the ideas you can try making –

1. Pizza pockets: Make the pizzas completely portable by folding them into tasty little pockets with the ingredients on the inside. They're delicious cold and make ideal picnic basket filler.

2. Fruit pops with choc dip: Chocolate fruit pops are fruit in disguise. They are a great to make in the kitchen with kids and it’s something they will actually eat!

3. Fun-sized tea sandwiches: They can actually be filling for you and your kids both. Easy to make and are without a mess.

4. Water coolers: Fruity coolers are best for hydration and better then carbonated drinks.

Picnic friendly kidswear options:

For summer picnics, make sure your kids clothes agree with their feelings and keep them energetic all day long along with being soft and comfortable. You can make their picnics enjoyable by choosing clothes like Tees, shorts or capris with shirts. They will also be attracted to clothes with graphic cartoon characters on them and are easy to move in. Soft, cotton and funky styles are best suited for outdoor picnics. Kids will be running up and down and it's you who have to make sure of their comfort. Choose dresses and outfits for your kids that give space to move freely while also not hindering their movements.

Some of the outfits’ combinations you can try -

1. Cotton dress with sandals for your little girls; It’s best to opt for flowy and airy dresses as opposed to body-hugging clothes. Cotton dresses, with simple frills or layers that float in the wind should be great for the summer.

2. Shirts, shorts and slip-ons for you little boys; Cotton shorts or chino shorts are a great alternative to denim shorts. You can keep several pairs of shorts in your child’s closet all year round and use them for picnics, outings, travel, and so on.



Picnic games for kids:

While picnics can have a completely different meaning for grown-ups, kids are active and won’t be happy just sitting around. For this reason, sharing some easy and fun activities for them - 

1. Frisbee: It’s a great picnic game and came played between 2 or more people. And if you have a dog, it will be double the fun.

2. Relay race: It’s a great way to utilize your kids’ energy. It’ll require a stick, at least 4 rockstars (your kids) and a stopwatch.

3. Cricket or some other sports activity is also great to entertain your kids.
